Many people visit the Gateway every day. All their frequently asked questions with their answers below.

The GATEWAY is home to many of the voluntary and statutory organisations and services that help people in Warrington. We are an independent charity providing a focal point for the voluntary sector, enabling access to advice, support, information and opportunities for lifelong learning in the heart of Warrington.

We are also a conference facility with meeting rooms of various sizes available to hire.

We include organisations ranging from council to charity and NHS Services. See our Organisations list page for a full list. Contact details are on each tenant page so you can get in touch directly.

Our normal hours are Monday to Friday 9am- 5pm, excluding Bank Holidays.

As an independent charity, we’re not part of the council, but several council services are based here. See our Organisations page.

We can host your displays and stalls, depending on availability and what events are being planned. Please contact us to discuss further.

If you would like to display leaflets, please drop them off at reception.

We don’t have any computers for public use and suggest you try your local library. Check with Livewire to see what’s available.

For computer classes, try Lifetime and Warrington Disability Partnership, who run a range of courses.

Citizens Advice don’t offer appointments at first point of contact.

For urgent matters such as food vouchers or bailiffs, speak to our reception.

Speak to the council’s homelessness team at Housing Plus as soon as you can.

Sign up with Under 1 Roof online. If you’re struggling to do this, Housing Plus can help.

You may also want to speak to individual housing trusts such as Warrington Housing Association or Your Housing.

The staff at WVA work with many different organisations in Warrington. They will be happy to help you to find something to suit your skills and interests.

Torus also run job clubs across Warrington.

Pension Wise give free, impartial pensions advice to anybody over 50 with a UK-based pension.

Both Warrington Speak Up and Healthwatch Warrington are based at The Gateway and can help with different issues. Contact Warrington Speak Up to talk to someone if you feel you struggle to get your voice heard, or Healthwatch Warrington if you need help with an issue regarding the NHS.

1 Time Square is the ‘one-stop-shop’ for anything council-related. You can find them opposite Cineworld in the town centre, or call them on 01925 44 33 22.

The NHS has a tool on their website to Find A Therapies service.  You can also contact Talking Matters 01925 401 720, part of the IAPT service.

Warrington Borough Council has some information on business support, including Warrington & Co and Cheshire and Warrington Growth Hub.

Contact the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133 or via live chat.  

They can give advice on any consumer issue and help you to get in touch with Trading Standards when necessary.

the GATEWAY is an independent charity working with local voluntary and statutory organisations in Warrington. the GATEWAY and all of its tenants are committed to improving the quality of life of the people in Warrington by:

  • Providing a joint ‘first stop shop’ giving advice, support, information and 

  • opportunities for all.

  • Enabling the voluntary sector to work together, and in partnership with 

  • others, effectively and efficiently. 

In order to achieve these aims we will:

  • Work in genuine partnership with voluntary groups and other organisations 

  • to develop new and better ways to deliver services.

  • Help provide access for Warrington people into a seamless, quality 

  • service of information, advice and support.

  • Provide opportunities for, and support for volunteering where appropriate.

Work together in ways which deliver good practice in areas such as:

  • Confidentiality

  • Referral systems

  • Employment practice

  • Health and safety

  • Equal opportunities

  • Anti-discrimination

  • Sustainability

Seek to achieve quality standard marks such as the Community Legal Service Quality Mark.

  • Share resources, information and equipment etc. where possible.

  • Contribute financial resources according to the agreed framework, 

  • recognising differences in organisations ability to pay.

  • Provide support to one another with areas of expertise.

  • Take an active part in meetings and networks within the GATEWAY.
